ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCTION

Premik Jolly’s the name, and I shall be your guide through this musical journey. I have been producing music professionally for the last ten years, being musically trained on the guitars and keyboard and front lining my own heavy metal band since 1999.
So far most production schools have taught music production mainly from a software aspect. It is my belief that students need to also know about music itself and its structure to properly construct a song.
Therefore music production is tackled as a whole at the ILM Academy, using Cubase as a platform. I have chosen Cubase, as it is the leading Digital Audio Workstation software used the world over.
There is also an option to learn a musical instrument whilst doing the production course. Besides the software knowledge, you will be exposed to the different styles of music and its elements. Understanding the different styles and sounds that go with it.
You will also be introduced to basic chord theory so that one can create music that is musically correct. Practice is very important so as to assimilate all the knowledge in the 3-month course.
While at the academy you are encouraged to put in as much practice time as you can. I encourage you to produce your own projects and experiment with the vast array of sounds and effects that software has to offer.
